DIGORA® Optime greatly enhances workflow

Radiographer Pirkko Koivisto uses the DIGORA® Optime intraoral digital imaging plate system many times a day in her routine work. She and her colleague, dentist Timo Luostarinen especially appreciate the speed and ease of use DIGORA® Optime provides. Both dental professionals have been using DIGORA® Optime since 2004 and say that the correct and effective use of the system is very quick and easy to learn. “The system is very simple to use because it guides the user with clear animations on a graphical color display. There is no special training required for new users” says radiographer Koivisto.

Koivisto remembers clearly the time when film was in use. “It took six minutes to develop a film in a darkroom. Nowadays the images are ready almost immediately and a doctor can have the image presented in just a few seconds on his computer.”

“Images are easy to represent to the patient. The spatial resolution of the system is enough for seeing dental structures. All digital image options like the storing and sharing of images and the processing capabilities, e.g. enlarging the image, are also a huge advantage” says dentist Timo Luostarinen.

Various uses, various images

The types of images captured with the DIGORA® Optime vary a lot. Most commonly DIGORA® Optime is in use in every type of basic procedure as well as in some operations, for example root canal treatments. The system automatically detects the size and the correct orientation of the imaging plate and completely erases it ready for re-use in one easy step. The density of the image is adjusted automatically.

“The images are of very high quality and there aren’t any exposure problems.  Imaging plates are very much film-like with a 100% active area.  They are well sized and flexible, which makes them easy to set in the precise position with no discomfort to the patient” notes radiographer Koivisto.

High standards in hygiene are the true benefit of DIGORA® Optime. This is because it automatically provides increased hygienic safety to the patient and the user, it simultaneously minimizes cross-contamination risk and enhances workflow.
“Thanks to automatic internal UV-disinfection the system is safe and hygienic for both the patient and the operator” explains dentist Timo Luostarinen.

DIGORA® Optime can be installed almost anywhere and is easily shared over local networks. It is an economical solution especially for practices with multiple treatment rooms, since it can be accessed at up to eight workstations.
